(also posted this on cebucycling)

I got an MTB for its versatility and lesser price but on weekdays, I usually ride on the paved roads of our subdivision.  I read somewhere that a quick solution on this is to put some "slick tires" for less rolling resistance which would be better overall for the bike leg. (Im just a newbie)

So, how do we do it?

1. Buy slick tires and interior?  (My wheels are Alex TD25 while my stock tires are geax saguaro 26x2.2, if this helps)
(but i have to deflate, change tires, inflate when changing)

2. Buy another wheels & tires?
(i have no idea yet how much work it is to transfer the rear cassette from one wheel to another)

3. Or buy another wheels & tires with rear cassette in it already?
(sounds like the quickest solution but i just want to be sure)

Info on where to buy such wheels and tires is very much appreciated. Thank you all.

Dili ko mountain biker nya dili sad kaayo sweto sa mga sizing sa MTB wheels. Anyways...

The way i see it, you only need a new set of exteriors and interiors. You don't need to buy a new rim etc.

Try to look for the slick tire exterior and ask what's the matching interior.

koykoy, just go the the danao tri even if you're not racing. this will give you an idea how a race would look like...who knows, you might ditch your MTB for a road or a TT bike after.  Grin

Buying new rims, slick tires, hubs and cogs are the best way to go. But this will be a pricey. Changing tires would be another option I would greatly consider since it would be the least expensive but it would also be time consuming. My advice... If you do not trail as much. Get slick tires for your MTB.

@don bunot, i guess its already given that we all need to train hard if we want to succeed in this sport. or whatever sport. what i believe koykoy is asking is an advice on how to make his wheelset changed to slick tires without spending too much money or what is the best way for his mtb to be able to run fast during competition. (no flamebait intended)

and that's why we are calling rap's attention! dude, your a monster MTBer before, need your advice on this one!

but i guess rap's too busy with training.. everytime i text the guy, he is always on training! way to go future ironman!
