CEBU - The Cebuano fitness buffs are set to experience a new kind of road running event with the staging of the inaugural United Track and Field Association of Cebu Incorporated (UTAFA)10K Road Race on December 7 starting at the Cebu Provincial Capitol grounds.
The UTAFA tilt is different from all other road running events because there will be mini-hurdles that will be placed in every 2.5 kilometers of the race course.
Race organizers are making this the innovation as they are putting up this event as a tribute to Cebu’s acknowledged father and mentor of track and field, Dr. Danilo Villadolid.
Villadolid started his athletic career as a distinguished 110m hurdler at the Abellana National School .
Proceeds of the event will go to the educational scholarship of poor but deserving track and field athletes in different schools and universities here.
Those who are interested to join the race have only until December 4 to register at the Philippine Sports Commission-VII office located at the Cebu City Sports Center. Entry fee is pegged at P150.
Trophies and cash prizes will be handed out to the top 10 finishers in the men and women’s open category. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
