congrats ms haidz!!! i liked your blog about the BDM102.  what an experience!  saludo ko nimo!!! that was a tough feat pero you made it!   sooo glad that ur a part of the sugbutri family! Cheesy

Nawala ra ang pamaol after two days.  I think it was because aginod lang ang pace. Wala nay umoy ang muller tape after KM 60.

BDM 102 has a blog.  Dunay link sa blog ni bald runner.  All the rules are there.

4-wheels ra ang tugtan nga support vehicle.  Pwede 1 vehicle, 4-runners, but as ziggy said medyo maglisod, especially after 50K.  Ang ideal vehicles would be the Van, pick up or the veicles with hatchback kay sayon ra for the supplies.  So even a Getz (because it is hatchback) is OK.

The key is to group yourselves according to target pace.  2 runners per vehicle is OK.  Running must be single file and no drafting.  Dili pwede magpayong.  Just hats lang.

Example Axl and Juntan, you have very different paces.  The tendency would be duna gyud mabiyaan.  It's hard for the vehicle to double back.

Also if it is your first time, do not make the mistake nga mohataw sa first 42K.  You will pay for it somewhere in KM 70 to 80.  Slow and sure wins the day.  And keep moving forward, even while eating.

Dapat dunay at least 2 people in the support crew.

Ang unseen expense also would be your expenses during training.  In your long runs, you have to simulate the nutrition and hydration.  After running 70 KM it's hard to keep solids down.

It takes a lot of obsessive planning especially if you're from out of town, but it's not impossible at all.  Before joining, i researched the blogs of all the others who joined the first edition.  Also the badwater ultramarathon website has a lot of tips.

There are other ultras out there like TNF, but I think BDM is way up there because it is an homage to history and because of it's difficulty in terms of running and logistics.   It really deserves to be on your bucket list.

Open na ang application for 102 (cut-off time 18 hours) and 100 miler (24 hours).

Application because you will submit via email your previous running experience.  After the deadline, BR would then send you an invitation email.  As soon as you get your invite, you pay a reg. fee of P2,000.00, fill out the reg form and send a medical certificate.  Then after the deadlne, ipagawas dayon ang final list.  If you get the invite email it means you have entry na, but you have to follow the deadlines for submission of requirements otherwise you don't make the final list.

March 5 and 6 and race day for 2011.

BTW,

Brother Carlo will join next year's 100-miler.  Kadtong mga kusgan mahimo makig-team up with Bro.  Carlo.  he finished 102 in 14++ hours.

I'm not joining, but I think my husband will.  We're building up his base now.  he needs a lot of catching up in the mileage area.  I will be support crew next year.

Dali na lang nang support Jun.  Build your base first by training for the marathons.... then decide by yearend if you're ready to commit to an ultra or not.  Will update you kung sa camp O'Donnel ma-assign si Eugene next year.  basin daghan ta mahangyo nga mga tawo niya didto.
