In celebration of the Leyte Landing Anniversary, the Leyte Coalition of Outdoor Enthusiast for the Environment (LCOEE) and the Leyte Gulf Off-Road Bikers Association will be conducting the “KAUSWAGAN ADVENTURE CHALLENGE” on October 17-18, 2009 with banner title “Paisan-isan Pagsulsog han Kaagi han Giyera”.

This activity is in partnership with the Environmental Legal Assistance Center Inc., Sangguninan Kabataan of Palo and the Arts Culture and Tourism-Palo. The activity is an integration of three activities which will be conducted in one occasion. That instead of the traditional Bike Race which we hold every October, we will now have An Advocacy Fun Ride and several bike games, Laro ng Lahi and a non-stop 24 hours adventure racing. The same is designed to be more competitive and fun, yet with a much more dedicated advocacy for awareness of the history of Leyte, the culture of the people and the urgent need for unity in Environmental and Cultural preservation. The said event is likewise dedicated to our local heroes who have sacrificed their lives during The World War II, hence the theme “Paisan-isan Pagsulsug Han Kaagi han Giyera.” 

The details are as follows:

A.Advocacy Fun Ride “registration fee” will be @ P160.00 per participants that will entitle the registered participants to one souvenir T-Shirt and one packed meal.
B.Registration for the Bike Games varies defending on the kind of bike challenge. There will be prizes for the said bike games which will be in cash or in items and goods from sponsors and special donations. Some of the Bike Games is on a “Winner Takes All” basis.
C.Those who have registered in the advocacy fun ride are entitled to a 50% discount for the registration of bike games.
D.24 Hour Adventure Challenge is a Team of Four Race. 1 support, and 3 racers. Racers must include 1 Female.  Registration Fee is @ P1,500.00 per team. Each Racer including their support member is entitled to one souvenir T-Shirt, one vest/jersey and one meal during the socials. Prizes at stake are as follows:

1st     prize       P 15,000.00;
2nd    prize       P 10,000.00
3rd    prize      P 5,000.00.

with special awards and/or gift pack for the first 10 team finishers

   Registration has already started. Reservation will only be accepted provided the same shall be written and signed by the racer/participant mailed or delivered to the Office of Atty. Ronnan Christian M. Reposar at San Salvador St., Buri, Palo, Leyte, 6501 on or before October 15, 2007. Registration forms are available likewise at Arts Culture and Tourism Office of Palo, Leyte. Payment of registration fee will be accepted thereat and a temporary receipt will be given. Please present the same at the secretariat as proof of payment on October 17, 2009.
   
   Emailed Reservation is allowed provided the same is validated through a scanned signature attached above the name of the racer/participant in their letter of reservation addressed to rcmr80@yahoo.com or mmts_1076@yahoo.com.
   
   Only those who have confirmed reservation will be accommodated on October 17, 2009.

23 control points with challenges and 2 Logistic points
Challenges are World War II Related, Puzzles, innovative Larong Lahi and other Filipino Games

The activity is OPEN; hence participants coming from Cebu, Dumaguete and other neighboring islands are expected.
Only those participants who have confirmed their attendance shall be accommodated for the activity.

Activity:    KAUSWAGAN ADVENTURE CHALLENGE

FRAMEWORK, RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE RACE

The objectives of the rules and regulations of the race is to set the framework for a competitive race conducted under a safe, fair, sport manlike manner.

It should also be noted that it is impossible to make rules for all eventuality and that there will be specific verbal rules attached to certain stages of the race. It is the responsibility of the teams to take note of these specific rules.

I.TEAMS

1.1Competition is open, regardless of residency and profession.

1.2All competitors must be at least 18 years old and must submit a photocopy of birth certificate. (Original certificate is needed for authentication).

1.3All competitors must be physically fit to participate in this event and must submit a medical certificate.

1.4All team must be composed of 4 persons: 3 racers (each team must have at least 1 female racer) and 1 support.

1.5Teams will be provided an official number and must be attached and worn at all times during the race.

1.6Each participant is required to sign a waiver before the competition.

1.7Teams are requested to attend an official briefing for more information about the challenge. No briefing, No race rule!

1.8Violation of these rules will be grounds for automatic disqualification.

II. MANDATORY EQUIPMENTS

II.1Each team must have the following mandatory equipments at all times  during the race:

­mountain bike (3), helmet(3),
ball pen/pencil, compass and ruler
3 pcs. life vest
3 pcs. salbabida (large size)
first aid kit
1 mobile phone in good condition w/ load (for emergency           purpose only)

III.PROHIBITED EQUIPMENTS

III.1Weapons and the like.

III.2Banned substance- natural or synthetic.

III.3Any other communication devices aside from the specified equipment above.

III.4Violation to any of this rule will be grounds for automatic disqualification.

IV.SECURITY MEASURES

IV.1There will be a mandatory equipment check prior to the start of the race.

IV.2Equipments to be used will be determined according to the discipline. Other equipment needed for each discipline will be provided for by the teams at the start and must be in compliance with the rules and regulations and specifications indicated by the organizers.

IV.3The organizer has the right to approve or withhold any equipment that could be detrimental to the safety of the competitors or provide unfair   advantage to the team.

V.CLOTHING

V.1All racers must wear the official vest of the competition

V.2Official No.  will be given to each member of the team.

RULES OF THE RACE

I.GENERAL

I.1Registration will start on September 30, 2009 to October 17, 2009. First come and first serve basis. Reservation will only be accepted provided the same shall be written and signed by the racers themselves mailed or delivered to the Office of Atty. Ronnan Christian M. Reposar at San Salvador St., Buri, Palo, Leyte, 6501 on or before October 15, 2009. Registration forms are available likewise at Arts Culture and Tourism - Palo, Leyte. Payment of registration fee will be accepted thereat likewise, a temporary receipt will be given. Please present the same at the secretariat as proof of payment on October 17, 2009.

I.2Electronic Reservation is allowed provided the same is validated through a scanned signature attached above the name of the racers in their letter of reservation addressed to rcmr80@yahoo.com or mmts_1076@yahoo.com.

I.3List of final team members should be submitted to the organizers upon registration and/or reservation.

I.4Final Orientation of the competing teams is October 17, 2009.

I.5Only officially registered teams will be allowed to compete in the race.

I.6Only the official race passport fare will be used during the race.

I.7Loss of any of these items will call for an automatic disqualification.

I.8All teams are requested to show respect and be extremely conscious of the following:

Causing disturbance when passing through the area.
Damage to any private property.

I.9Assistance from people other than team in navigation, logistics and supplies is strictly prohibited.

I.10The race rules and route may be modified at any time should the organization see necessary. All teams will be informed of any changes as soon as practically possible.


II.JURY

II.1The race is regulated by judges and their decision is final and irrevocable.

III. ROUTE

III.1All competing teams will depart “as one” from a designated starting line, passing through all control points in sequence and arrive at the finish line before a designated cut-off time. The team who crosses the finish line first taking account all penalties wins the race.

III.2Teams are requested to check-in at all control points in their proper order.

III.3For the passport to be signed: all team members should accomplish the challenge and must be with-in hearing distance of the control point marshal.

III.4No vandalism!

IV.VALIDITY

IV.1Only the teams who are at the start and upon arrival at all designated control points and at the finish line will be recognized.

IV.2The reference time recorded shall be on the last team members’ arrival.

V.WITHDRAWAL

V.1Any team may withdraw at any control point and at any time during the race. However, for safety purposes- the control point marshal must be informed of any withdrawals.

V.2In the event that one or more team members withdraw from the race, the remaining team member/s will be considered incomplete and out of contention and will be pulled out of the race.

VI.SAFETY

6.1Weather conditions may lead to modification of the challenge.

6.2Mandatory safety equipment should be properly worn when undertaking their corresponding disciplines.

6.3No team may intentionally block another team’s progress.

6.4All traffic rules will be followed.


VII.MEANS OF TRANSPORT

VII.1All traffic rules will be followed.

VII.2Competing teams’ members are prohibited to hitch, hike, ride or make use of the designated means of transport.


VIII. Registration / Team ----------------------------------------- P1500.00
      (Maximum of 25 teams only)


“VIOLATION TO ANY OF THESE RULES MENTIONED ABOVE WILL BE GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION.”

Note: This rule of the race is not yet final and may be amended if contingency demands. This is only for the purpose of appraising the partner institutions of the Planning conducted by the organizers.
