y controversial?

Na controversial sya RJ because the Marshalls made a major booboo.  The lead pack which included Elmer Bartolo had to run an extra distance because the marshall on the lead vehicle did not follow the route as advertised.

In the meantime, Noy Jopson ran the correct route as drawn on the race map.  So si Noy nidaug because he was the one who ran the correct route.  I'm glad Noy insisted on the rules, otherwise, di ma professionalize ang mga technical committees dinhi.  I just feel bad for Elmer because he's the fastest middle distance runner today in Cebu and he was deprived of the top prize kay nag-dang-hag ang technical team.  For runners like Elmer, a weekend race is payday. It was a major fiasco.  Si Noy buoton jud, he agreed to split the prize even if he did not have to.  Ang dapat si Joel Baring nag-bayad sa difference kasi his people committed that major error.

The same technical team also made the same mistake at the University Run this year mao short by as much as 800M and route.  I really asked Joel Baring how come these mistakes happen.  He admitted that they did not make a run through of the routes, only verbal instructions and drawings were given to the marshalls.  Sana they should be careful next time.  I know this shouldn't matter to the slow runners like me, but races even the fun runs should at least strive to be professionally run and follow the IAAF rules as much as possible.

Taas kaayo storya, but that's all water under the bridge now.

thanks for the info miss heidi.
IMO, race marshalls should have a look themselves on the race course before the actual race. but syaro naman sad wa katoltol ang mga marshalls sa roads nga kadaghan na sa run races. well, mistakes happen, hope this wont happen again.

as for noy's gesture, yes it was very nice of him. he doesnt need the money anyway. he is just running the races to get racing & training in his legs.
