it was so hot as the race started around 11am. there were only about 10 triathletes who joined including dax, eugene, franklin (bacolod), atty john (bacolod), job, yan2. the female triathletes opted to be race marshalls/spectators. gerrie, neil reyes, rico and baguio were also present but did not bring their bikes. they just want to have a good time in the island and would then participate in the next day's events. elmo broke a spoke on the bike leg but was still mighty strong. it was more of a non drafting race as the triathletes were mostly separated during the swim. the outcome would have been much different if there were more participants who can join the chase pack in the bike leg. the swim was also longer than 1.5k and favored the swimmers like me

this race was shorter than the sugbu distance tri. we did 10k on the bike leg and 2.5k on the run. gerry raced on a borrowed bike. the race also saw 3 female triathletes which was won by sugbutri's lorhiz echavez and followed by franklin's gf and a canadian girl both from bacolod. noel salavador was the 1st back to back champion!

elmo was relentless and gave the visitors a taste of his iron will! i skipped this race. lorhiz meanwhile captured the women's tiara

i also missed this race. i was told that the finish was epic with four guys on the final sprint headed by gerry calinawan. he then faded just before the finish line. eldy banluta joined and finished 5th. in the women's division, lorhiz garnered her 3rd title

the team of eldy crossed the finish line 1st but was penalized for failing to complete one of the challenges. i was so exhausted after this race

most triathletes went home on saturday.
what a week! thanks to the sponsors, organizers, race officials/marshalls/volunteers & especially to the people who shelled out money to save the event. hope we can have the official race results soon
