NOY JOPSON WINS PANGLAO TRI
PANGLAO, BOHOL - Fresh from a second place finish at Hong Kong age group Aquathlon last May 15, 2011, Noy Jopson (Polo Tri), kept his solid form en route to a dominating win in today's First Panglao Business Club Triathlon for a Cause. With a total time of 1:43:15, Noy bested and all Cebu podium with Ralph Arche and Elmo Clarabal, who both cut the line in 2nd and 3rd places. During interview, Noy admitted that he had an "awesome experince, winning a very nice race that highlights the beauty of panglao" and added that "he and his family had a truly memorable racing and weekend getaway". In the women's race, Lorhiz Echavez won a close battle in front of Rochelle Tan, 2nd placer, with Amale Jopson rounding out the podium for 3rd spot. Today's race featured two transition areas passing through some scenic spots as well as the beaches, with the race distance at 1k swim, 30k bike, and 7.5k run.
Packed Race Course
A typical Panglao weekend, with hundreds of tourists along the beaches of this beautiful island, the racers came out in full force as well. With 77 individual racers, and 18 relay teams, the total was 134 athletes, a very big turnout for the race co-organized by Sugbutriathlon. Triathletes from Cebu and Bohol made up the bulk of today's race delegation.
Age Group and Relay Winners
Other category winners were Virgil Fuentes for the Mountainbike category, Glen Flores for the Local category, Simon Arizola for the men's 50 above, Tyron Tan from Team Reborn for the age group 40-49, Ritchie Mataragnon for 30-39, Emanuel Comendador for 20-29, Gavin Solijon for the 19 and below group, Lovelyniel Casidsid won the female 20 and above, with team Bohol Dolphins Swim club winning the team realay category and DOBAP Aparicio taking out the Organizer's category.
Donations Pour In
Kudos to Team TG Cebu for giving out notebooks, pens and pencils as donation for the beneficiaries of Panglao Business Club.

Thank you also for the organizers. The race was a blast and it was really great to have swam/rode/ran in the beautiful waters/roads of Panglao.
In behalf of Team TG (Tuesday Group), it's our pleasure to have contributed something to the schoolchildren in Panglao in our own little ways.
'til next time. :-)
