Subject: [firstwavetri] The Philippine National Games- May 28 to 29

There will be a Triathlon event in the 2011 Philippine National Games organized by the Philippine Sports Commission. The PNG  will be a sporting event with an Olympics/Asian Games type format featuring the best athletes in over 20 sports. The 1st edition of the Games will be held in Bacolod City and its neighboring cities and municipalities.

The PNG will be held from May 22-29, while the Triathlon event is on May 28 & 29. A race course is being mapped out in coordination with the regional tri group, the Triathlon Association of Negros (TRAIN).

The event is meant to help PSC determine the best athletes in each of the participating sports and will therefore have an "open" format where possible like in the triathlon. All of you who want to see how you stack up against the Philippine Team in an elite racing format are encouraged to join this. Your results in this race can help determine your national ranking.

The Junior Sprint (16-19 YO) is on Sat, May 28.
The Standard Distance (18 & above) is on May 29.

Both races will be considered elite events and thus will follow elite rules and be draft legal.

There will be NO RACE FEE.

To register go to the PSC website:  www.psc.gov.ph and click on PNG link. Click Registration and then the "Individual Player" link, then fill up the entry form.

If you need hotel accommodations please inform me ASAP as most of the rooms will be booked by PSC.

Those of you on a budget can stay at classrooms that will converted into dormitories. Those interested in that arrangement can also inform me so I can inform PSC to accommodate you.

The PNG Tri is open to all aspiring Filipino triathletes.

By plane seems to be the most convenient (8am and 9am flight then naa pud sa hapon mga 4pm) then land at Silay City Airport which is around 45 mins away from Bacolod City.  Check sa nako pila to ang bayad sa van from the airport to the city.

Pwede ra pud mag Ceres Bus but I think it will take 8 hours to reach Bacolod from Cebu City.

Just reposting some lines to highlight from firstwavetri yahoogroups:

For PNG, elite rules apply and so aero bars beyond the perpendicular plane of the brakes are not allowed.

Since this is a draft legal race tt cockpit is not allowed (long aerobar with bar end shifter).
TT frame should be ok as long as they use a drop bar and ITU aero bar.

Roadie is best, then use shorty clip-ons just like ITU rig.

Better to go there by eroplano aron walay samok sa transit CERES/BUS. Else, if nahan adventure.. then proceed to land trip.

I like. Cheesy

Hinoon sad considering travel time, snail mail kaayo. I lean on Bus for the mean time.
